Adrenaline Rush

I successfully downloaded software and an IMAX video and watched it on my computer. Wow. Sure makes you want to jump out of an airplane!

Final post?

The project has been fun - most of the time. I have really learned a lot about technology that I wasn't familiar with before.

My favorite things were - reading each other's blogs and trying to figure out who it was. I will continue using blogs, flicker, YouTube and maybe some other things. I do want to go back and spend more time on some things I had to blast through. It takes longer for me to be comfortable with technology.

I think this was a great idea. It would have been more fun for me if some of the weeks hadn't had so much to do in them. There were a few weeks when it was more stressful than fun. Possibly a longer time period for the whole program.

I was suprised to realize I knew more about technology than I thought. And that I enjoyed more exercises than I guessed I would.

Last weekend I had someone show me how to text message - a new skill. I think this might be a good thing to have at reference for our patrons who are more comfortable texting than talking.

I would participate in another discovery program in the future. I appreciate Catherine and the whole team that worked on this project and LCLS for supporting it!

Download Depot

I am in the process of downloading Adrenaline Rush and IMAX film. It is about skydiving - something I have always wanted to try. After having knee replacement surgery last year, I'm guessing I won't be trying it anytime soon. So a video.

I wasn't particularly happy about having to download the software on my computer. I don't like to have a lot of extra things on my computer, but the software is loaded and the download of the movie is progressing.

Recently I have watched 2 tv shows online which was fun. One was from Netflix and one from CBS. Nice when you miss a favorite show, but it won't ever replace watching on tv for me.

It has been 10 minutes and I'm only 16% loaded. NIce that I can do something else at the same time.

YouTube

Now we're talkin'. I enjoyed this. I poked around with library videos. Saw Mr. Bean: The Library, The Silent Library, No Cookies in the Library, and Libary Dominoes.

My favorite tonight was Library Dominoes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwihz7iZlx0

My alltime favorite was Introducing the Book, the medieval help desk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFAWR6hzZek

Podcasts

I went in to Podcasts and visited the Angry Hippie (my 60's background coming out.) I listedn to Episode 3 - post 9/11 Patriotism, Religion .....

Interesting and easy to do. Much less complicated than some of our other exercises.

Zoho Writer

This is a very interesting/helpful idea. It is great for those who won't want to or can't afford software. It is good for people sharing a project that don't work together. I can see this having a future.

ZohoWriter and Web2.0 Awards

I did check out the book section of the Web 2.0 2.0 awards and went in to play on Biblio. That was kind of fun. THere are several other sections in Web2.0 awards, I would like to explore further when I have time.
